all i can say is, join a guild and stick with it, odds are you'll become good friends with a few people in that guild and you can d stuff togerther. EG, i used to be a bit like you, with no gold dropping for me couldnt make any of my own, i joined the guild im in now, and have a few close friends that would quite happily lend me anything i wanted (i asked one for 18ok to buy shards for fow arour and he just gave it to me) it really isnt hard to become friends with people, and when you do the whole GW experence becomes nicer

Many people complain about not getting lucky. But very much often, they get good drops but they themselves didn't know it. As for nice people, its better not to expect too much over an online game.

I'd probably get flamed for using the builds that I do, but I don't and I wouldn't care if I did. Why? Because I don't hang out with punk ass chumps that mindlessly grind and use cookie cutter builds. Some people just aren't cut out to do 50 mind-numbing runs to farm.

I say enjoy the game for what you have. Get in a good guild and have fun. Sell Zaishen Keys, those aren't difficult to obtain. I made 20k in a day by having fun in AB.

While you say you've played for 3 years, you didn't say how much you play. If you only play an hour a day, you're not going to do as well as those of us who play 4-6 hours a day on work/school days and 8, 10, 12, 14 hours on our days off.

I've been playing almost 3 years myself and I've gotten a few really nice items in that time (my req 8, +5E Zealous Amber Longbow and req 8, 15%/ench, 20/20 Sundering Gothic sword being the most noteworthy), but I tend to find that my luck goes in cycles - long dry spells followed by a few weeks of good luck, rinse and repeat.

Last couple of weeks I've been getting Radiant and Survivor insignias right and left but, of course, they never drop when I'm trying to equip a new group of heroes on a new char. And I could make a lot more gold than I do, if my playable chars had more than 9 slots free to pick up more stuff that drops - those 40-50g whites add up fast if you can pick up enough of them. And I know I could make more money, too, if I cared to solo farm but, no, I always take a full party of H&H because I find it more fun that way.

The thing I think that helps me is that I don't really play with the expectation or intention of making money, I simply play to have fun and relax; the money just kind of rolls in by itself.

If there's a specific green I want, as the others have suggested, I simply go out and kill the boss over and over and over again until it drops. I might be lucky and get it on the 3rd try, but it might take 20, 50 or 100 tries.

Once, I decided I wanted an Incitol's focus. 2nd day trying, I got a Vengence Seeker, rit wand with a really cool skin, decided I wanted another one, one for each of my rits. Spent 4 more days getting the 2nd one, during wihich time I ended up with 3 Ungues on the Oni and 3 Incitol's (last 2 dropped within 1 1/2 hours).

So, it just takes persistence.

I sympathize with you on the the issue of all the jerks you run across in the game, but that's just a fact of line in the on-line world. Heck, I've posted builds on the forums here and had people immediately rush to tell me how "that build sucks". Well, it works for what I'm using it for, so what do I care what they think about it? Don't let people like that get to you.

Its not how you make money, it is how you spend it.
If you squander every penny on the next new thing when it first comes out, then of course you will have no money.
You have to be willing to save and invest money in order to have it.

Not really, some people I have played with though 30k was a lot of gold. They couldn't imagine that any one person could have that much gold. I think it is comical. That is like six ecto. hahahahaha

I had a friend grind for two weeks to get his primeval armor. WTF????

I told him I would buy his next set for him and save him hours of his life. Some people just don't know how to get teh goldz...

yes its bad luck....my bad luck is also ectos and shards which is why I never go to the uw/ fow as I never get them when I am there....greens dont usually drop from the bosses I want them too while I have green daggers up the wazzzooo (and no assassin character ---anton and zenmai appreciate them but I only have so many zens and antons!)...

now dye, if you need that I got tons of it (not black only get that say once every other month or so)....

so it all works out in some strange way.....

Yeah, I've never really had any luck... EVER in GW except once:

Rushing through Factions shortly after it came out, I got ferried to Urgoz's Warren and was lucky enough to get a req 8 15^50 Zodiac Sword, only to accidentally salvage it before I sold it. I STILL haven't gotten over it.

Honestly, my advice is to learn to HFFF. I've got the exact same curse as you on one of my accounts, and HFFF has solved a lot of my money issues. At 4.75k/hour/account you take, UW couldn't consistently keep up with HFFF. Luckily, my mp3s solve the associated boredom problem.

The fact that you can farm UW shows you do not have horrible luck, You can farm one of the nicest spots in the game. Making money in the game is all about repeating something over and over again thousands of times. So just be patient and you will become rich.

I have bad luck because I can't do UW solo and the only drops I ever get are non max weapons and trophies.

They roll 2d10, chosing the highest as the 10 die, and if they roll 49% or lower you are screwed. They roll a 1d20 on each account and on a 15 or lower that account is screwed, They also Peep in your window at night to see when you are the happiest and use carrier pigeons to send messages back to anet hq and order in game nerfs for your area alone. its called the F-U-Fan-Factor.

Thats because the gw community, by large, just sucks. They are angry 13 yr olds who get beat down at school and laughed at by girls so they take it out on players in a game. its just the way it is. There is a solution. Don't play areas that require other people (strangers) and only group with heroes and henchies. I never deal with jerks because my H/H are very loyal.

Find me in the game some time and I will help you with what I can. You can play however you want and not worry about any BS. I'm very easy going.
You can teach me to tank UW and we can split the drops 50/50.

Try playing Diablo2 LOD, In that game you don't make money, you make high runes, which if you compared it to gw, you can get 2-10 million gold easier than you can get 1 legit high rune. Raising your mf% (magic find) requires special gear and charms which take forever to get on a drop. You have to kill the same bosses and monsters about a trillion times to gear up your character and then you have to ask yourself " now what do I do, I have everything in the game, I am level 99, Time to play GW.

GW is a very pointless game to farm on though. Collectors offer max dmg weapons and you can buy cheapo max def armor. You don't really need to be rich. Only real need for gold is skills.

My honest opinion. Don't let the jerks get to you, and when you meet nice people, add them to your flist and remember you managed to find one of these rare players who won't trash you when you make a tiny mistake.

PS: Welcome to guildwars, the game that hates itself.

Though it has already been stated. If you don't really like to farm, which is the only real way to make lots of money in any MMO, when you are doing missions or quests pick up everything.

Then either salvage it or merch it. Personally I salvage all whites and blues that are under a hundred gold of worth. Just my system. While I might still be poor, I found that most of my gold gets sapped by getting skills, runes etc for all my different chars. So I have taken to just playing and concentrating on a few.
